FLIP MY FOOD TELEVISION EPISODE TO FILM AT USS ORLECK
Greetings, and ahoy all. We are proud to announce that Sunday, July the 12th 20015 the USS ORLECK Naval Museum (USSONM), Louisiana’s Official Vietnam Memorial Museum Ship docked at 604 North Enterprise Blvd, Lake Charles LA, will host Flip My Food with Chef Jeff Henderson.
Flip My Food is a national half-hour daily cooking show which airs on over 75 television stations across the country including KPLC-TV at 1:30 PM weekdays, and can be found online at http://flipmyfood.com . Host Jeff Henderson is a well-known Executive Chef, TV personality, author and motivational speaker, and has been shooting shows all over the country for the past year or so, including great restaurants in New Orleans like Bourbon House and Commander’s Palace as well as locations such as Churchill Downs in Louisville and Graceland in Memphis. Episodes of Flip My Food center around Chef Jeff taking existing recipes for popular dishes, and “flipping” them into a more healthy and no less mouth–watering interpretation of the dish to the delight of program guests as well as viewers nationwide.
In addition to shooting at restaurants both far and wide Chef Jeff has worked with almost all branches of the U.S. Military with shoots at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport LA, U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue in Savannah GA, Fort Lee Military Culinary Training Center in Virginia, and more. As of Sunday this list will include the USS ORLECK Naval Museum.
Shooting will take place in the galley and aboard the Helicopter deck, and will consist of Chef Jeff preparing a selection of popular dishes along with the aid of local assistants. All dishes will be prepared with the aid of Flip My Food’s portable kitchen, tasting will be conducted by preselected panel of ORLECK crew members. Joining Chef Jeff in the kitchen will be local assistant of honor CSSN Gage Smith.
U.S. Navy CSSN (Culinary Specialist) and longtime ORLECK volunteer Gage Smith has worked with the Museum since its arrival in Lake Charles. Whether as a laser tag referee, tour guide, or haunted ship staff member Smith has never been afraid to go the extra mile, and has proved himself an invaluable asset time and again. Prior to graduating from Sam Houston High School in May 2013 Smith was also an active member of the U.S. Navy Sea Cadet Corps, Chennault Battalion, Lake Charles LA. As of summer 2014 Smith has been a proud member of the U.S. Navy and is currently stationed at Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base Ft. Worth, Texas. We greatly appreciate his Command in allowing him to come out and help represent the USS ORLECK as one of Chef Jeff’s assistants.
The ORLECK will be temporarily closed to the public during filming, participation in filming will be by invitation only (Sunday July 12th); however; the ship office will remain open for inquires and reservations for future events. Please call or email if you have any questions.)
